right, i've had this type of situation and it's always going to be tough. But what I'm on about is a bit different - it's before you talk about relationships and when it's quite plausible that one or both of you are seeing other people. I'm not going to go on another date just to break it off. Maybe what you said but in a text message or email is enough, but I can just imagine them saying 'why did you sleep with me then?' (to which I should reply 'duhhh!'.)

Discuss politics and religion. I think I recently lost a good friend because she is very actively engaged in some Christian church and "loves Jesus", etc. Put some polite criticism in a private message and she suddenly stopped responding. :(
