As long as possible. The longer the conversation, the better in my opinion and it build the prospect for a high chance of success.

I approach a group of 2 ladies, they were very nice, we talk for a few minutes, 5 to 7 minutes and it build a better success.

I think, most people think of women some kind of aliens while in reality, they are more in need of man's love and admiration.
