I have many negative beliefs about myself, about women, and about sex/dating/relationships. I am nonetheless a well put-together guy who has had success and a strong social life since I got involved in pickup a couple of years ago. But I feel discontent, lonely, and bitter about many things.

How successful can I become, with women and in other areas of my life, before I realize that it's time to work on sorting out those negative beliefs? There are many effective techniques for doing so (such as cognitive behavioral therapy) that I know quite well work for me (while other techniques like affirmations do not work for me), but there's a huge investment of time and mental energy involved in confronting negative beliefs. And as you work on it, it can start to take you down a dark place and discourage you even though you're making huge leaps forward and are only feeling discouraged because you're finally facing things that you have been ignoring your whole life.

Sure, getting success with women can help end some of those beliefs, but I find that I need to actually work on replacing negative beliefs with positive beliefs, which needs a dedicated effort. Because of the time and energy needed to face my beliefs (in addition to all the other things I'm working on), does it make sense to put a temporary pause on meeting women for a little while (few weeks or couple of months) and just work on sorting out all this stuff?

Or can I keep ignoring my beliefs and just work on seducing women (along with other areas of my life like health and business) as long as it continues to work. Or will not fixing these negative beliefs eventually catch up with me, leading to deeper unhappiness with my situation?

I've started things like meditation and I eat right and go to the gym and /r/NoFap, but I feel like these are all band-aid remedies for the deeper problem of my beliefs, which colour everything negatively for me.

Were you successul in changing negative beliefs, and how has your life (in terms of women and in other ways too) changed because of it?

Apart from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), what other ways have you found to confront and change your negative beliefs?

And was it necessary for you to do this before things started to go tremendously well for you?
