I've hit a strange wall that I know is entirely psychological, but it's causing me anxiety. In my dating life, I've had a high volume of success, primarily on dating apps. I've been with many women, most 20-24 year old and I'm 27 and the interest was always clear, direct, and often explicitly physical. I'm confident in my ability to attract and connect with people in that transactional, low-stakes digital environment. The moment I step out of that context, like a cute girl on my class, my confidence vanishes. I'm in a demanding Master's program, and there is a brilliant, beautiful girl in one of my classes. But she is is completely outside my social bubble. We've had several classes now, and I haven't initiated contact once. She hasnt looked at me twice or something.

The circumstances make it tough: she leaves quickly, she's always with a friend. It feels monumentally harder to walk up and say hi in a serious classroom setting than it does to meet someone at a bar or on an app. I know that if I were interested in her on an app, I’d message her without a second thought, but here, in reality, I'm paralyzed by the fear of her rejection and the resulting awkwardness.

I feel like I've mastered a specific type of attraction, but I have zero courage for genuine, organic social initiation. How do I translate the confidence from my proven track record into the simple nerve needed to introduce myself to a woman who is not expecting a dating app approach? How do I bridge that gap?
