Hey OP from reading some of your comments here are a couple of suggestions/critiques I would make.

You don’t always have to start off with “Hey, I thought you were cute and had to talk to you” What I find is a really good opener is just a simple compliment (whether it be her hair, an article of clothing she has on) you can use her response to gaude her interest and also build off of there. You could follow up by saying you have a sister or cousin that would probably like whatever you complimented and ask her where she got it from and go from there. Ask if she stays nearby, etc.... just basic random questions to get to know her

Also, try! Make your interest known but don’t try too hard! What I see a lot of guys do is successfully get a number and then come off desperate through text. Remember you just met her. You can stop your life and obsess over her. Just keep it moving like a regular day.

With the last paragraph being said I just mean give her space. A lot of guys feel if she’s not instantly replying she’s not interested. She could be busy and you pressing it could be a turn off. In my experience I usually get girls when I’m nonchalant. When I actually try I fail for some reason and I believe it’s from trying to hard. You gotta make it seem natural

When you do text her though, I like to send my name a couple minutes after to tell her to save me in her phone, you should be asking her to hang out soon. I know guys that asks girls on dates right off the bat and i think that puts a lot of un-needed tension on the situation. If you ask her to hang out though, then you both genuinely have the chance to get to know her and gauge how she feels about you. (Also, if everything goes smoothly when you do ask her on a date later on and make it a thing it’ll seem cute).

Also pretty much what I saw someone else say, you need to improve your social skills in general. Social people are social people. It’s just in their nature if you just learn to speak to more people you’ll overcome that general social anxiety and it’ll help you talk to women. You’ll seem more confident because you won’t seem nervous.

This isn't a thing you turn on and off. It's always on. It's better to be "that type of guy" than to "Ok, time to pick up chicks now". By the way, you need to be social in general, not just to pick up girls. Doesn't if it's a hot girl or an old lady next to you, you talk to her. Just my opinion.

In that regards putting yourself in more social situations would probably help. Some where in my other comment was talking about being social. Most of the time I pull girls is when I’m least expecting it. Sometimes it’s easier to meet women at say a grocery store as opposed to the club
