My first relationship a couple years ago was based primarily on AIM, email, and texting. Just about every conversation we had was typed out on a keyboard or with T9 word. Obviously, having in depth conversations through text can lead to a lot of miscommunications, misinterpretations, and misunderstandings... especially when you're having an argument through email.

Since then I've all but stopped texting. I haven't been on any sort of instant messager, ichat, google chat, or facebook chat for almost 4 years now. Most of my interactions now are in person, and when I ask someone out, I almost always call. I'd say this is definitely a good thing! I do very well in person, and I enjoy not having to rely on technology so much to get in touch with someone.

The problem is, I don't know how to text anymore. There will be times when I'm too busy to call or set up a date between when i get a girl's number and when I get some free time to go out, and having a weird out of the blue "hey, how are ya?" call before we've even gone out once feels... desperate. I'm still great at creating sexual tension with a girl once i've gone out with her and we've established a connection and comfort with each other, but I am absolutely terrible at texting before that point. I simply have no texting game, and since I'm out of college and living the life of a busy man, I'm starting to realize just how important a midweek pre-date text can be. I feel like my attempts have only managed to hurt me.

Are there any resources that seddit knows about to cover this sort of thing? What are your own tricks to keep a girl's interest when it may be a week or two before you can actually take her out? How do you use texting to build up attraction/interest before the first date? And anyone else who wants to just comment on texting in general feel free to do so. I'd love everyone's opinion on the subject.
