I'd recommend to stay away from apps/internet. Go wherever women go; yoga, barnes and nobles, bars and clubs.

Yes, she might get weirded out for a bit at first but once you realize how much happier her day got because you approached it changes how you look at her getting "weirded out"; it's worht it for both parties imo.

I honestly noticed that the place I pick up the best quality women for dates (not total skanks but not prudes either) is at Barnes & Nobles and at upperscale coffee shops (not starbucks). You could also try the gym. I've never done that because my apartment has a fitness center, but I hear good things from my friends who pick up girls at the gym. Bars are cliche and just a bad look overall, unless it's a college town where everyone is barhopping to find a warm body and that's all you're looking for.

I've been going to bars.alcohol relaxes people. After hitchhiking across the country I notice what a high % of people picked me up high or drunk. It helps them be more rational I suppose. But it is a college town though. I might try Barnes and noble now. Good idea. Also you being a marine who gets stationed in new cities.can say "I'm new to the area and am looking to meet new people" I find many people will let you join their table with this fact in mind.

Depends where you live, how old you are, what kind of women you prefer, etc. If you want an example, here's my niche.

I like intelligent, vivacious, fun-loving and independent women who happen to be beautiful all at the same time, and I go to college, so I hit up my college campus, a few coffee shops where girls study, sometimes the grocery store, and the book store.

For night game (which I personally dislike) lounges and main streets/down town are what I'll go for, I never liked bars/clubs.

And to the fears - you're not going to know for sure unless you try, most of the time girls are very warm if you have good fundamentals and aren't being needy. What helps me is going in with the frame "Yeah, you're attractive, but you seem cool and I want to get an idea of who you are to influence my decision whether meeting you is a good idea where we'll leave each other better off or not".
