Might be a bit aggressive for all girls, but you just need to careless about outcomes and open sets and keep moving things forward with girls that show interest. I would say you got lucky with the first time you took the bull by the horns, start smaller next time. If you are good looking showing confidence will take you a long way.

You already know the answer to your own question. It worked, you showed intent and were forward with the girl and it got you laid. You make your own rules and set your own frame when interacting with girls. If it works, keep doing it and calibrate if necessary.

Here's how sexual strategy works:

Experimentation - do something you haven't done before.
Analysis - what were the results?
Conclusion - it either worked, didn't work, or needs work.

Once you come to a conclusion you can adapt your strategy accordingly. I would say that for a dance club atmosphere this is fine. Most girls in that situation are looking for a guy to be assertive. However, just grabbing someone in the supermarket may not work so well.

By the way as far as mindsets go, this one works best for me: "If you don't open to a girl you are being a selfish dick who wants to keep all of the awesomeness in his life to himself." Now I open everyone.
