Obviously depends on the tone/wording, but I think a lot of times if a girl compliments it can be bad. She feels like she's more knowledgable or higher status to feel she can make a judgement in a certain area. What do you guys think?

My hypothesis: it's bad when a girl compliments you in the initial stages of attraction because it means your status level was displayed as a lower level perviously and it's better to come off like a guy who was always higher status. Saying cool stuff about yourself should just confirm your status, rather than break expectations of it.
