If you are not an interesting person, then develop this side of yourself to become more interesting.

How would one go about developing these skills?

Dude you are trying too hard and in trying too hard you are being unattractive. Hot guys don't have to try that much.

So developing skills is now trying to hard?

Do you need to develop special skills to keep your friends engaged and interested in Jan going out with you?

No but it seems texting is a different vibe talking wise to when you go out with friends, i could be wrong. Prehaps I am over thinking it, but iv had two women that stopped texting me that I was interested in and feel it may have been due to not being engaging or exciting (funny thought provoking) enough while texting. Both of them were long distance away and I'm out of a very long term relationship so I feel my texting skills are less exciting compared to the dating scene nowadays.
I more or less was curious if people had tips or tricks or methods to improve the likelihood of them staying interested. I haven't done dating stuff in 10 years and girls seem to hate that nice guy relationship shit so I gotta switch mind sets to not that shit

The only trick I have about keeping women interested is to text them less not more. You are likely boring the shit out of them wjth constant walls of text and robbing them of the opportunity to miss you and see you as mysterious.
I once picked up a girl in a bar, got her number, texted to arrange a date a week later and didn't text her at all in the meantime. When we did meet, she told me "who are you? You haven't texted me at all, you are so mysterious". A nice guy will take that as "She's unhappy with my lack of attention. I need to text her more and more to keep her interested". I took it as "I've been thinking and fantasizing about you all week and have been anticipating our date and I finally get to see you in person again. I'm so happy!"

I found it helps if you learn of a common interest early in the conversation. It doesn't have to be very big thing. For example today I had a great conversation with a girl over our common love for a particular local sweet that not many people enjoy.
You can make it interesting by giving unexpected answers, or purposefully misinterpreting her answers. Do it in a joking casual way. Build a pattern of speech that is unique to you two.
Also it is very useful to know that avoiding certain topics can be important. Some topics are self explanatory, while others are dependent on the girl or situation. For example I knew she was a student, but I never asked what she is studying or mention my work. I did that deliberately because it was a very easy thing to ask. Easy=boring and she heard it before. When I eventually ask her, I will put a twist on the question, like "how many times did you skip school already?".
Finally, all this is very difficult to pull of if she is not responding well. You need to use her replies as stepping stones into more fun topics and angles.
Awesome I greatly appreciate the insight! Super interesting

Ahhh nice. That hump is hard to get over. You can always get a good conversation either asking for advice or input. Don't be afraid to attack world issues and weird stuff like that especially if you know her enough. And even if you dont, certain questions bring about good convos.
There's also nothing wrong with keeping a short list of questions you feel like could be tackled together. Some things I like to ask is "What are deal breakers for you?" or depending on how far in yall are "What type of weird things turn you on?" is always a good question. Both of those provider her with space to talk about herself which women love doing, and you the space to chime on with jokes from the sideline.
You really just want to be in the best position to show off your best attributes, mine being wittiness and creativity. So I'm good on the fly. If you know where you best shine, steer the conversation to those areas. If you're very knowledgeable about something, find a connect/balance to what she likes to talk about and relate.
Brilliant, I appreciate the insight!

Counterproductive but the less you think the better.
1) The overthinking and constant adjustments to your text trying to come up with something funny/flirty comes off too try hard.
2) If the set is solid in person texting makes it so much easier
3) Keep it light and funny
4) Last but not least. You can do everything right and still get flaked or you could fuck up so badly and still get a date. Remember dating involves 2 people; you cant control the variable of your target, only yourself
These are great points! Thank you!

First and foremost. Texting is for logistics only
