I don't know where you heard that, but a cheek kiss comes off as weak. Don't do it. Always go for the lips on the first date. YouTube how to kiss properly or search on seddit for tips.

No cheek kiss at the end, ever.

TL DR - you have to touch the girl early, non creepy, gauge her reaction. By the end of a good date she should be touching you. Then stop moving, hold her, look at her eyes, lips, eyes, then kiss. Walk off like a pimp.

Whatever you want to be the result of the date starts at the beginning, and builds throughout the date.

So at the beginning of the date.
- hug.

Or if that is too much ..

Shake her one hand in your two hands instead of a man to man/business style.
She'll offer her hand, put one hand on bottom, another hand on top - like a "hand sandwich", where her hand is the meat, and your two hands are the bread.
Look her into her eyes deeply
Shake her hand, gently.
Take the top hand off, and let the bottom hand linger and then let go.

The rest of the date, bumping into her, rubbing shoulders when you stand side to side, guiding her through a crowd by either having her hold on to your hand, or looping her arm through yours, etc.

She has to be cool with your touch before you kiss her.

You have to be proactive about putting your grubby little paws on a chick. She's not going to do your job for you. You have to lead, and look for signs of discomfort, look for reluctance. You don't want to ask her, and God forbid she has to tell you.

Girls are horrible in that they want you to read their minds, and know how to do things you don't know how to do. And if you're too good, if you never make a mistake, you're a player.

You're just supposed to know.

Kissing at the End of the date is what rookies do, and is good enough for now.

So the date is winding down after a couple of hours. The date should have gone well. Conversation should have flowed easily. If you extend your hand for her to grab it, she should take it.

If she's not giving you overt positive signs, but still wants to be near you, you can still go a bit forward.

This is where some very attractive girls really baffle guys. They do not give any signs, and the only sign you get is that she's still there.

Finally the kiss part.

Stop moving. If you were walking, or sitting some place and talking - STOP.

Stand face to face.
Arms around her waist.
Look her in the eye.
Look at her lips.
Look her back in the eye.
Draw her in.
Say a mental prayer.
No turning back now.

Kiss her. (Put your lips on her lips, and then lick your lips while your kissing, then break the kiss off FIRST)

It doesn't matter what you do as long as you are confident doing it and are in control. Girls are followers, not leaders. If they feel the guy is in control of the date and they're enjoying his leadership he will get a 2nd date. What really screws things up is if you're awkward, it knocks you down the authority ladder and she moves on, looking for a more confident male elsewhere.
