I find that the more I'm attracted to a man, the more physically nervous I get. This includes not being able to touch their arm (or other innocent gestures) or getting very nervous when they touch me. My lack of ability to playfully touch men who I am very physically attracted to comes off as disinterest (and since these men usually have many other choices they get disinterested very quickly). When I'm not as attracted, I have enough experience to know exactly what to do to keep them interested...but that falls apart when the more attracted I am. I'm not so nervous during sex...its just the initial playfulness or casual physical flirting that boggles me.

Just a bit of background: I was physically abused growing up and so touch plays a very unique role in my life now as an adult. I am very sensitive to it but when I get comfortable with someone, I get very touchy. I've consciously learned how to innocently touch others as an adult but when I'm nervous around a guy I like...it kind of goes out the window. Most people nowadays though don't have the patience to wait as long as I'd ideally like.
