I'm starting to doubt my sanity, whether my mirror works okay, or if Tinder has become complete bullshit.

I first installed it in January and played around with it for a few weeks. Back then I used to have 2-3 matches waiting for me every time I turned the thing on (as in, my first few swipes were usually matched), although nothing ever came of it. I turned it off and forgot about it as I had better things to do with my time. I decided to give it another try last week, but it's not going so great...

I'm in the east end of London (zone 1), have my search set to a 5km radius, and an age bracket of 19-25 (I'm 26). And here I am swiping away day after day, I'm probably closing in on a thousand or so swipes in the last week.

My result: Zero matches. Literally zero, excluding the one sex-bot that wanted to sell me a girlfriend experience.

So my question is:

has anyone here successfully gotten a match, and a decent conversation going on Tinder recently (last 3-4 months)? Because it just isn't happening.

Hookups, meet-ups and dates are not my concern at this point, first problem is simply saying "Hi", which, yeah... isn't happening!

Some food for thought:

  • There seems to be an unusually high concentration of good looking girls on Tinder. Seriously, where are the ugly girls?! :) I find myself swiping right almost every time, not because I'm desperate to hook up with just anyone, but because all the girls are genuinely really beautiful. This leads to to think Tinder has become saturated with fake profiles.

  • I'm by all accounts a pretty attractive man, even if I say so myself. I have a nice face, I work out every single day, I'm 210 lbs, 12% bodyfat and pretty muscular, and I make sure to show it in my pictures (in a tasteful way :)... and I recently had a friend of mine who is a professional photographer help me take some great photos that I'm currently using on the app.

  • Have users migrated to other apps?

(alternate theory: I look like Moe Szyslak and don't realize it, and nobody's ever had the heart to tell me :)

Edit: Got a match literally 5 minutes after I wrote this, but she's 200km away. Don't know how that happened, not sure why the app matched us at that distance :/
