Today I surfed at sun rise with few new friends. I'm glad I did. I tanked almost my entire social circle last year and I really do need to find new friends. Another plus was that I borrowed a smaller board than I'm used to and actually caught a few. So now its finally time to graduate from the beginner board. After surfing I didn't have a board in my hand like I did the last few days. And that actually stifled me a bit. I had kind leaned on the self image of me as a surfer dude. But today if I wanted to get a number I would have to go without the prop I was used to having. So I walked for a bit and had that age old internal dialogue about whether I should go home or approach. We've all had it. The reasons for going home were that I could come back later, there weren't enough good targets, I was gonna look as cool with out a board. But eventually I decided that the rest of my day would be better if I just got in there are took a swing.

So I approached a woman with a little dog. Same opener. She had a good reaction. I walked with her to for about 5-10 minutes. I tried to seed a date, but I was pretty clunky and rushed so I just got her number and texted her but no response all day.

in the evening I made a video message for each of the women I number closed. (tyler says that video messages have a higher response rate, so im FTing this) I sent it out to all 3. I got one response. It was from the bombshell from the first day and it was a positive response.

Also I want to talk about the upward spiral because after months of small changes I'm only now starting to feel the progress. 8 months ago I was 200 lbs (im 5'9"). I slept all day and played computer games (city skylines) or watched youtube all night . I smoked weed daily. I didn't socialize. I had a grimy mustache. I was a mess. But I pulled my self out it step by step. It started with youtube clips of comedians. I watched them for months. Eventually I got it in my head that I could do that too. I wrote some "jokes." I found an open mic. It was actually easy to go find the courage to go on stage because I had practiced PU before. That opened up a whole world of expression that wasn't available to me before. Well theres more to this story actually but i'm pretty tired now. I'll write more about pulling myself up by the boot straps in the future.

I hope you're all finding small ways to get control of your lives too.
