Hey everyone, I 20m met a girl about 9 weeks ago. Around the same time, I also started my military service in the Army. Despite my busy schedule, we managed to go on a date every weekend, and we chatted regularly throughout the week. We really hit it off and could talk for hours.
We had a conversation about what we were both looking for in a relationship. She mentioned that she needed time before getting into anything serious because she's been hurt a lot in the past, but she was open to the idea. I told her that I was interested in a relationship or, at the very least, a committed friends-with-benefits situation. I didn’t want to pressure her or come across as needy, though.
By the fourth week, she asked if we could exchange hoodies, which I took as a good sign. In week six, we had our first kiss, and by week seven, we slept together. I’ve only had one partner before, and that was 9 months ago, so I was a bit rusty. Afterward, she offered to let me stay over but mentioned that she had to get up at 6 AM for work. It was already late, and I could tell she wasn’t too keen on me staying, which was fine by me. We didn’t cuddle or talk much afterward since it was already 1 AM.
Here's where I think I messed up: I didn’t send her a “had fun last night” text the next day. Since then, our texts and snaps have started to dwindle, and last weekend, she didn’t have time to meet up. She’s a busy person, so I tried not to read too much into it, and the reason she gave didn’t seem out of the ordinary.
I know I’m probably overthinking this, but I can’t shake the feeling that she’s losing interest. I might’ve caught feelings too fast, and now I’m paying the price. Part of me wonders if it was just my performance in bed that turned her off. If that’s the case, then I guess I’ll just have to move on, work on myself, and keep looking for someone else.
What do you guys think? Am I overthinking this, or is there something more going on?
Additionally, should i initiate contact again and ask her to talk or wait until she does?
Additionally, I'd love to hear any tips on how to avoid getting attached too quickly in future relationships. It’s something I clearly struggle with, and I think understanding how to manage my emotions better could really help me in the long run.
