I've run into the problem of getting flaked on by girls who agree to go out with me, mostly in OKCupid but also in person. Being in a big city, both the girl and I often have crowded social/work calendars, so if I get a girl's number and say "Let's meet on Wednesday..." but we can't, I often don't get to agree on a date until the following week. 3 times in the last couple weeks, I've gotten girls' numbers and they've excitedly responded that they want to go out with me even though we can't figure out a date that works immediately. Then, when I message them that weekend for the following week, I get no response and never hear from them again. Obviously, I haven't built up enough attraction, and/or I'm letting it fade too much. However, I'm having trouble building more commitment without relying too much on impersonal electronic communication. Excessive texting is frowned upon around here, and the few "random observations to show her you're busy and cool but thinking about her" I've sent haven't been productive. Phone conversations, especially with someone I've never met or met very briefly, doesn't tend to build emotional connection and I'm not sure it helps my case (if they even pick up--if they don't, I've probably done more damage than good). Suggestions on an approach that minimizes flaking/non-responses when you can't meet up with a girl within a few days?
