Strangers on the internet, I (24M) have a question that I could not think to ask anyone in my real life.
I typically pay for my dates, and now I’m wondering if I’m creating a situation where someone is taking advantage of another person?
I grew up and started casually dating in a heavily religious midwestern area. Recently I’ve moved to a major, East Coast city. The move was for a job that was a significant pay cut and came with increased living expenses. But I have enough, just not much extra.
I have a wedding (not mine) coming up that will be expensive and will take up some vacation days. So I’m cutting expenses down until July 2019.
I explained this to a friend I had been seeing, and asked her if she wouldn’t mind splitting the bill. She begrudgingly agreed, and thanked me for letting her know in advance.
Is this even an issue? Because it seems to me that despite the shared knowledge between her and I, that I have either always paid, or paid the lions portion of the bill. It just makes me feel funny. Idk, guys/gals thoughts?
