I'm a complete beginner at this but I'm still curious as to why this happened. This is my second semester of college, i've been staying in the same dorm. Last semester I didn't venture into the lobby so much, but this semester I went down to the lobby because this is the first day back. There's like 15 people sitting around so I take an empty seat on a couch next to some guy I kinda knew. I talked to him for a bit and this HB8 walks in and sits next to me. I've never spoken to her but I've seen her around my dorm always talking to a few people so I said hello. She said "hi" back but completely looked the other direction and talked really low. I tried to introduce myself and say something but she responded so low I could barely hear her so I just stopped talking. After like 5 minutes she left to sit next to her other friend. I'm wondering why this might have happened and how to respond next time it does.
