Ok, so I try to live a well-balanced life that consists of working out, going out, and more importantly being with friends. I think when you focus too much of your time on one aspect of your life (e.g. your job or even seduction) it really diminishes your self-worth and can lead to depression.

With that said, I had the good opportunity of grabbing dinner with a friend of mine earlier in the week and picking up some additional groceries last nite at my local supermarket. Sounds "vanilla" enough, but I always have my HB-radar on always willing to talk to anyone. I honestly don't believe in failure or being dependent on the outcome. So for those crying "wtf dude! no number close, lawlz" I want you to know that sometimes the journey is more rewarding than the final destination.

WAITRESS

Preface: Show up on time to meet up with a female friend (HB7) and decide to go ahead and grab a booth. The hostess walks me over and than comes my waitress for the night.

Her: "Hi and welcome to [x] how are you doing tonight?"

Him: "I'm actually doing pretty good for a Wednesday, how about yourself?"

Her: "I'm glad to hear! I'm doing good."

<She is setting down the menus and arranging the table for myself and my guest>

Me: "No, no, no. I find that answer to be all too common. Lets try again, one a 1 through 10 scale how is your day?"

Her: "Hmm... on a 1 through 10 scale? I'd say a 7. No wait, I'd go with a 6 actually. I'm at work after all."

Me: "Ah, see... this is why we have different numbers than."

Her: "Really? Well what is your day than?"

Me: "Well, I'm going to cheat and break the scale. I'll say my day is a solid 11."

Her: "Wow, well how did that happen?"

Me: "Well, I just got off of work... but still I living the dream with this job. Reason why i came out here after all. Plus my friend is late, so she is buying my dinner... which by the way how is your red wine list? <flash a smile>"

Her: "Ha! Well I'd say it's pretty good but what do you do? You said you're not form here, so where are you from?"

End result: As you can tell, she than began to ask me questions about myself. I've come to realize instead of asking the typical "Where are you from?" and "What do you do?" I more so hint at myself not being from her so if she is interested in myself she'll go out of her to ask herself.

So ya we chatted a bit more, I threw in some qualifications, rewarded her by relating myself to what she was responding with, and joking around. My friend eventually showed up, which I forewarned my the waitress that she would be here shortly as a FTC, and gave her a big hug and quickly diverted my attention towards her.

Nice girl, not particularly my type but we jokingly re-engaged in our conversation as she stopped by the table or just the section we were in. I wasn't concerned about a phone number, in fact I've become quite finicky as to which girl I request a number from bc they really hold zero importance to me. Much more focused on the interaction and knowing wither or not I even want to see them again than closing on a number as if it were a cure to a poisonous snake bite.

tl;dr: Came in before my friend showed up a restaurant and decided while I was here to open up a waitress who turned out to be really cool and could care less wither I got a phone number. Sometimes it's more important to leave people feeling better than they were before as opposed to just getting a number.
