So it's Sunday morning and I'm up early and don't feel like making breakfast. I go to a local diner and have an omelette. Not dressed particularly well but not slobby either. I sit and eat and get up to pay. The cashier is a young maybe 6/10 or so. She's putting her phone away as I come up and says "sorry I was checking my phone" or something. So being bored and an instigator I say "oh seeing if your boyfriend is hitting you up eh?" and she says "I wish...I don't have a boyfriend." So I reply "Oh I see how it is, you just have a roster of FWBs. Nice." And she laughs and pauses but then comes back with "Finally, someone who understands." Then I notice a change in her demeanor and she's making small talk like "So do you live nearby, what are you up to today" that kind of stuff as we're handing cards and receipts back and forth and so on.

I wasn't in game mode and honestly I'm kind of with someone and I'm happy where I am. But in retrospect I wish I had said "You seem like a lot of fun, why don't you give me your number." But I wasn't in the mode and it would have been just for the sake of a numbers close and maybe some flirty texting that went nowhere in particular.

But the point I'm trying to make is that when I'm TRYING to make something happen, it rarely does and when IDGAF these opportunities just jump out. And I should be more ready for these opportunities and not be looking to make something happen.

Just a thought!
