It's a great method, and yes, saying names will get you points and build rapport. Just be careful not to overuse the name so much that it becomes noticeable.

Also, try and drop your own name in there if she hasn't said it for a long time with a story or something

i.e so he came up to me and said Pedro9000ish, I thought I was bninging the watermelons... There is nothing more frustrating than forgetting somebody's name, until the tidal wave of relief when somebody else uses it and you get it back. It all builds comfort!

Not a bad method.

The old school method is repeating their name over and over in your head (like 10x) while looking at them -- to create a mental association. But this is difficult in set because you need to keep talking (especially at the beginning) and it might not be positively received if you're staring directly at them while silently mouthing their name to yourself.

My personal way of remember names is to write them into my phone ASAP. This is especially important if you see them later in the night, you can quickly refer to your phone. Also useful for people who work at the clubs so you can address them by name (bouncers, door girls, etc).

Also, recently, I've been using celebrity names as a way of both remembering and negging. For example, I introduce myself as an attractive male celeb (for example, "George, like George Clooney"). Then when the girl introduces herself I connect her to a celebrity in the same fashion. The cool thing is the celebrity you choose can allow you to neg/compliment. For example, if you're going into a two-set and your target is a hottie named Janet and the obstacle is named Miranda, then you could go Miranda Kerr (supermodel) and Janet Jackson (gross). Then the target is kind of miffed and the obstacle is loving you. AND it helps you remember their names.

Derren Brown has a great technique which I regularly use.

Take the person's name and immediately relate it to someone you already know with that name. So, 'Victoria' comes up, you should picture any friends or family you know called Victoria. Failing this, refer to celebrities.

Then you pretend that the person in front of you is pretending to be your 'Victoria'. Whether they're the same height, they are wearing similar clothes, their hair is 'dyed' the same colour, their nails are long like hers. Whatever it is, make it work. You can't be too far-fetched.

This works for me.

Oh, and if you don't know anyone with that name (including celebrities) then you shouldn't have any problems remembering 'Yolonda' or 'Prunella' anyway.

Give her a nickname. She'll like it (as long as it's good) because you're putting a unique spin on her identity, and you'll remember it because you made it. Win-win.

I'm kind of cursed being that I remember names way more than I can recognize faces. People I haven't seen in years will ask if I remember them and I always go, "what's your name?", then I remember.

I learned a method from a memory book (called <"The Memory Book">[http://www.amazon.com/Memory-Book-Classic-Improving-School/dp/0345337581]).

Instead of associating the name with some random adjective, you break the name up into a ridiculous image. The more ridiculous, the more unique so the better you'll remember it.

For example, if her name is Mary and I met her at a concert, I could think either "she married that guitar" or "Mary playing a guitar to convince her lambs to come with her". For megan at a flea market wearing a Hawaiian dress, I could think of "Me gaining this awesome dress, and wearing it."

Then, when you see them, this random image will come back to you and the association will be much more powerful in your mind.
