I'm looking for advice. I was going on dates with this woman (let's call her Ashley) in August and September, and things fizzled out as I had to go on a 3-month work assignment 1,000 miles away.

Fast forward to December, I'm back from the work assignment and I had been thinking about how much I liked Ashley and the time we spent together back in late-summer. I send her a message basically saying that I appreciated her and enjoyed the time we shared together. After a week or so she responded back and eventually I set up a date. We go on a date and then actually out for drinks the next day as well. In the meantime, I had planned a weekend vacation for the next weekend as we had both talked about how much we wanted to go to the place we ended up booking the trip to.

So, last weekend was the weekend vacation. It was an odd trip. She told me she had bad seasonal depression and had been stressing about her life situation as she doesn't currently like her job and she thinks she wants to move to a different city altogether once her lease is up in the summer of 2025. I say this because during the trip she just seemed very down and out, which in my mind I chalked up to her depression. It upset me a bit but I tried not to show it. I planned the entire trip, and paid for everything, which in total was close to $5,000. I work hard and make good money, so it's really not the money thing that bothers me but it's just how unappreciative she generally seemed. She just seemed put off most of the trip.

Like I said earlier, I really do like this woman and haven't felt this way about someone in quite some time. Despite how I've described her (I think the depression is really taking hold of her currently), she's mature, beautiful, and ambitious/driven. I really do like her. I'd like to make things works if possible.

Anyways, the last day of the trip, she seemed to be slightly better in terms of her disposition. I dropped her off at her place and we kissed and she told me to text her when I got home. Since that time a week ago, we have texted a bit but I am starting to just get frustrated as I'm trying to progress things along and feel like they are not. I texted her Wednesday asking what her schedule was like for the weekend and she didn't get back to me until yesterday and basically said she had plans with her girlfriends but then was wondering what I was doing. I'm thinking of just not even texting her back. I feel like she is interested in me, but I'm sick of being the one to put in all the effort. I don't want to lose her but I don't know how long I can go being the one to put in all the effort.
