Hello everyone, I (33 M) need your advice. Two weeks ago, through family contacts, I got the number of a woman (30 F) who lives 8 hours away from me. We both come from the same country, but we currently live in a different country together. She’s been here for 5 years, and I’ve been here for over 20 years. Before she gave me her contact info, she wanted to see my pictures, so I sent them, and she seemed to like my appearance and agreed to send me her contact details. We’ve been chatting on Instagram for the past two weeks. The first two days we chatted normally, exchanged some information, nothing special, but after that, it started taking longer for her to reply. At first, it was a few hours, then it stretched to 10 hours. and eventually, it took days. The last message I got from her was this morning after 5 days. So I thought she wasn’t interested. I know she has a stressful job, so it could explain the delayed responses, but this long? My mom intervened and spoke with the person who gave me her contact to figure out what the problem was. And today, I found out that she thought I wasn’t interested in her because I didn’t directly ask for her phone number. She said she expected that someone from our country would be more active when dealing with a woman he genuinely likes and wants to get to know. As I mentioned, I’ve lived here for a long time, and online dating is the norm. I’ve been off Tinder and other apps for a long time, so I’m a bit rusty. She’s 30, seems to come from a good family, and I believe she is probably a virgin. This morning, I essentially told her it’s okay if she doesn’t have time to text, and I would leave her alone until she has time again. I didn’t know all the details I mentioned above until later. Now, everyone is pointing fingers at me, saying it’s my fault. My mom even cried a little. I feel bad right now and don’t know what to do.
