Hey guys, so I really need some practical college advice. This is a throwaway account by the way.
A little bit of background: I'm in my 20's and I go to a fairly prestigous school on the west coast and have been having trouble with my love life - that is, it seems to be pretty nonexistent, at least lately. I have plenty of friends, I'm not a creep and I'm fairly 'normal', I'm OK looking and dress well (I have a little belly but I'm not fat, maybe a little chubby I guess), I have hobbies and aspirations, I work a good job, etc., etc.
Now I had girlfriends in high school. I also had a few girls in college so far. I still would consider myself inexperienced though when it comes to dating. And I'm definitely not having the experience I'd like to in college at least with dating. I feel like I'm limiting myself.
There's a good amount of girls who I have small talk with every single day. We greet each other, smile, and talk about random shit. And most girls who I know are pretty friendly with me. They say hi to me first. They engage in small talk with me when I don't engage first. Etc.
I'm generally a friendly and warm person, and I definitely wouldn't say I'm a needy, try hard type of guy... I mean I'm a bit weird and outlandish at times but aren't we all. I'm also fairly stoic and probably come off at distant a lot, but that's just my personality.
In any case, here's my question. If I have females who I have conversation on a regular basis with, and who seem to enjoy my company and start conversation, is that a sign of attraction? It seems to me that when women are engaging with me without me really engaging first this would be attraction, right? I know this question has been raised dozens of time, but I'm asking it anyways.
Pretty much, I can't tell the difference between 'friendliness' and attraction. Is there a difference? Are women just nice to me because I seem or look friendly?
I know I'm asking a lot, but anything would help. I really do not want to do the whole 'go out and ask every attractive girl you meet out'. I read Models which helped when socializing and having a certain state of mind with women, but it seems to be aimed more towards the 'real world' outside of college campuses.
I guess I just want to have an idea of where I'm at with women. Some of these girls who talk to me are gorgeous and the idea that they might be talking to me because they are attracted to me sounds insane. And no I'm not writing this for a confidence boost, but for a more objective and realistic idea of where I'm at, so I'm not deluding myself.
