Yes, that was a bit rambling.

First, and this one is big, is adopt an abundance mentality. Right now you have a scarcity mentality: "There are only 3-4 attractive women, college is crappy place to meet women, I live in a small town etc" I live in a small town, too and I speak from experience: Start repeating "There are attractive, available women all around me" and watch how you're perspective changes. Suddenly that girl at the drycleaners you always ignored starts smiling at you more, you start seeing attractive women at the grocery store, etc. Soon you'll be kicking yourself for ignoring the plenty around you!
Don't worry too much about the job and living with your parents right now, some girls are into a type known as 'unemployed but interesting.' (See: RooshV)
Forget about the X. She's gone, she left you for another guy, and you need to move on, chase new women, and see the world is a vast pool of available attractive women. Who want to sex you.
Speaking of #3, Your going to community college and you've only seen 3-4 attractive girls to approach? Yes, you're standard are too high, my friend. I'm not saying lower your standards (standards are good) I'm saying open up your possibilities for who you would consider spending time with and date some. I suspect you are still in the mindframe of looking for your next 'perfect' long-term girlfriend to match you're old one, which is why you're so picky. You're going to need to date a lot of women to find a really good one. (Frogs > Princesses)
Get approaching more! How many women did you approach this semester? Really??? Attractive or not, You're going to need to approach more, many more, women in order to get into the groove, get better at it, and eventually find a ltr. (If you want one.) Women you approach, even women you date, are not women you're going to have to have a ltr with. So don't get invested in it! You're probably going to have to date 10+ women before you find one who you think is amazing enough to be a girlfriend and who also likes you. See The Secret to Getting Laid
Where do you live? If you need to meet more women, join Meetup.com and join some groups you're interested in, that may also have some attractive women in them.
Yes, you can try clubs. Mystery Method is particularly good for there, and yes, it works! (Follow directions exactly). Don't worry about bringing back girls, at this point in your game focus simply on learning to approach, then conversing, then getting a phone number, then a date, etc. Bringing home from the club may be a high bar, unless you have plenty of experience in this already. But on a second or third date.....you'll just have to know when you're parents will be out. (See also #2)

deliciouswolf and ssheilds have said some good things but i'm going to give you a routine that has worked for me and will always work even if everyone in the world knew about it. it pertains to you going to the closest city.

this past weekend i was in memphis visiting a friend and she took us to this weird bar that was an old brothel converted to a bar. upstairs was the brothel, downstairs the bar. so people hanging out upstairs (all of my friends' friends) were basically having a house party.

it was a difficult social situation to break into because i was from out of town and apparently my friend wasn't such great friends with all the people anyway.

i noticed, though, this adorable girl looking at me. i knew i should approach her, but the set was literally like 20 people. so i did the routine.

i took photos of the people i knew first, and made it known i was doing it to remember memphis. after taking photos of the two or three people i knew, i went to each small set and took their photos. each time i explained i was from out of town and wanted to remember the night.

i went to the cute girl, took hers and she actually opened me. i didn't fclose or anything because the circumstances with my friends were... bad to say the least. but i could have.

so to recap, i did one simple thing which made me seem fun and open to new experiences, thus raising my status in the social order. it also made me artsy, which is always good and it gave me a chance to explain myself to everyone in the group, not just her.

and all i did was take pictures.

so my advice to you is that you need to go out and hit on as many girls as you can. i too just got out of a 3 year relationship where she left me for someone else so i know how you're feeling. i'm also old and part of a very small social circle in my town, so again i know the trapped feeling.

but grab a friend, go to a bar in the next town and use what i just gave you. the best part is that you've already explained to them you're from out of town. so if a girl wants to hook up, she already knows she's taking you home, not the other way around.

good luck man, it's fun, it's empty, it's everything. but focus on the fun and you'll be getting numbers in no time.

(actually i got a waitress's number in memphis within 10 minutes of being there, this shit is easy man.)
