In general though you want to avoid texting for flirting unless you have a direct goal in mind, use it for correspondence but leave it at that, text is missing so many dynamics and subtle ques that you get in person or over the phone through voice inflections and texts can be too easily misinterpreted. Good luck though man it sounds like you are off to a great start!

I wouldn't ask her if you'd be a good lion tamer because it's not funny and it's a yes or no question that doesn't really go anywhere. I do however like the idea of recalling that humor to use in your reopening...Something more like a story, "so I went into work today and...(short funny lion tamer story)"

Well a big advantage is knowing whether or not she's someone who likes to text. Some girls love it, some prefer actually talking.

As far as texting is concerned, you'll find 2 schools of thought on /r/seduction :

Most popular view: some fuzzy philosophies about the text game, many different games, and principles. I personally don't agree with this one.
Less popular view: Just don't!. Don't text, more specifically don't use text to seduce a girl, it just doesn't happen; and you can undo/screw up whatever you have with her. USe text to communicate, but not to create attraction. So, if you've done enough with the meeting to warrant you asking her out, do it so, very playfully; if you have not done enough to create enough attraction to ask her out... invite her to join you to your next social event (hence demonstrating your value) do this very casually as you would do with a friend or something. Creating attraction is - of course - more complex than this, but you only asked about texting, therefore this comment is about texting, and texting only.
