I’ve had many interactions with women when they were attracted to me at first and we had a great time on the first one or two dates, but I could see the attraction dissipate as I became more nice (because I feared saying something to piss them off as I got closer to being their boyfriend). Conversely there have been a few times when I shifted from being very nice to more ….not a dick but “socially abrasive” per se, and then I had sex with that woman because I could tell that knocked her attraction level up a notch.

Conclusion: don’t try to be nice. Just be yourself and if you say something which pisses a woman off by being yourself it may be a good thing not only because you don’t want to be with someone who doesn’t accept you for who you are, but the act of pissing a woman off can attract them more to you.

Just my current thoughts. I don’t have a great mental representation of how attraction works for women. My personal experience and the books I’ve read on the topic all point in different directions. What is pretty clear is that looks play a significant role (when do you ever see a hot woman with an ugly guy?), and that there is something about social abrasiveness that women like (notice how often do hot women complain their jerk boyfriends when there are a million nice guys who would date her at a moment’s notice).
