I ran into a problem last night when I was out bar/club hopping with friends. We were in a francophone city so not many people spoke english, and although I can communicate in french, I'm by no means fluent. This made it harder to approach because the odds are if I go up to somebody and say something any more complicated than "Hi, how are you?", they won't understand what I'm talking about. When I did approach, I was able to draw girls in initially and occasionally keep them around for a couple minutes thanks to good body language and physical appearance. The problem was that I could hardly communicate with anybody verbally which made it hard to escalate the interaction. I also found it very hard to keep an interaction going for an extended period of time because I couldn't get any sort of meaningful conversation started. Besides improving my french (which I'm working on), does anybody have any tips for different ways to approach and escalate when there's a language barrier between you and the girl?
