However, to stop I’d say go with a friend, or several, they should provide a distraction for you to not seem like a creeper.

Have conversations with people while you look for hot girls.

Even if the people you talk to aren't hot girls it just makes you more attractive and way less creepy when others see that you have a bunch of people talking to you.

And you'll have built up a lot of momentum by doing that so that when you do spot a hot girl you'll already be in a social mood and you're less likely to be stuck wondering what to say.

Sit somewhere where you are facing the door to avoid prowling. Or sit at the bar and chat up whoever is next to you. If it’s not super busy bartenders are pretty happy to talk to someone that isn’t slurring their speech and have loads of stories to tell.
