This is a quick reminder that dating is essentially a social skill that you must develop. There are some dos and don't similar to interviewing for jobs. When you show up for a job interview, you might be tempted to "just be yourself" and talk trash about your previous company and boss, say that you don't really care about the work or company and that it's the paycheck that matters to you, etc.

If you do this, it probably won't bode well for you. Same with dating. Many guys will balk at the idea of playing games in the beginning, being a bit hard to get and a challenge. These guys usually end up having one date and then masturbating because they can never interest women in more.

If you want women to be interested in you beyond a single date (or if you are having trouble getting to a date to begin with), follow some of these rules that have worked very well for me:

  1. Don't overcommunicate early on. Don't ruin the mystery and throw up everything about yourself over text over the course of a few weeks. You gain absolutely zero from this. The woman doesn't know you and she gets off on discovering who you are...over time. By overcommunicating, you are robbing her of the opportunity to fall for you. In the beginning be extremely sparse with texting, Snapchatting, instagramming and speaking over the phone.

  2. To express interest or not? I'm all for being direct early on and expressing your desire to get to know a woman. But there is a difference between "Hey, you seem interesting, I want to find out if you are indeed interesting, so let's spend some time getting to know each other, finding out our likes and dislikes, whether we have chemistry" and showing a woman that you are already invested in her emotionally after a single date. Guys will send texts like "I really liked hanging out, we should do it again", and generally acting like this is their new girlfriend already and they are planning the next 10 dates already. There is no bigger turn off for women early on than a guy who they have "gotten". Meaning they can sense you are way into them and they have won you over. This kills all emotional tension for them and essentially means you are too easy. Easy guys are not interesting. If you hold off on your interest and acting like you are into her, you will win big time. I'm not advocating being anasshole although maybe a little, just don't be so easily gotten. Play hard to get. If you resist the idea of playing hard to get, you probably lack the confidence and self esteem that a woman would be interested in you without you tripping all over her.
