Hey everyone reading this! Recent lurker here.

About two weeks ago I went to a friend's party. I saw this girl I found attractive and talked to her a few minutes. Didn't go far. I saw her again at the same party a week later, started chatting it up and we were having a good time. I got her number then got too drunk and passed out without making any moves.

The next day I texted her; I wanted to get to know her better and to go on a date. She said yes to a date one week from then.

BUT

About four days after the party, she texted me about seeing a meteor shower right before the date in a couple days. I mentioned how its supposed to peak that night instead of in a few days and we should get together to see it. She agreed. I invited her over to my place, she came over and we really got along.

See, the thing is I didn't really want a relationship. I hate to say it but I guess I just wanted some practice with a girl as I live in the middle of nowhere and don't get a lot of chances. So I was planning for a hookup, but I started getting to know her and I do like her. Really changed my perspective of the game and trying to be a player. Sort of turned me into a loverboy.

After watching the meteor shower, listening to music and talking, I asked if she'd like to stay a bit longer and watch a movie. While watching the movie, I put my arm around her. I see her smile and pull her closer, she leans her head on my and puts her legs on me. We cuddle up for the rest of the movie. There were a few moments where we looked each other in the eyes for like 20 seconds, almost like a sign to kiss her. But I didn't. I would give her a compliment and turn away. I guess I was nervous that she wasn't comfortable with a kiss. I didn't want to push it and ruin anything, although thinking back I totally could of.

UNTIL

She was leaving for the night. We're both 18 and her mother wanted her home, so we finished the movie we were watching and started heading out. While walking her to her car, I realized I was being a pussy. It was like 1am at this point, full moon and bright stars. We see a comet in the sky, she points it out. She looks at me and smiles, I should have just kissed her. But I wanted to make sure she was comfortable without saying something like "Is it ok if I kiss you right now?"

So I waited a moment and asked, "Do I get a kiss goodnight, or do I have to wait until next time?" She smiles and we kiss.

I found a girl I truly like, I'm excited for the future.

Thank you for reading. To some, this may seem underwhelming. To me, this was a small win. Others' stories have given me the courage to get to this point. Goodluck to everyone in similar situations!
