Through high school, I was known as "the genius". Not because I was a genius, but because I'm intelligent and intellectually curious, so I knew a lot about a lot. All sorts of people would come to me to settle disputes about shit I knew nothing about, and people would compete to team up with me whenever there was anything remotely intellectually challenging. Unfortunately, I was never able to parlay this status into anything tangible. No one told me "intellect can be sexy" or "you're an authority, man, act like it!"

As an aside, if you can explain four dimensional geometry to laymen, I admire you. I've been unsuccessfully trying to wrap my head around hypercubes for years, and those are some of the simplest 4d objects.

There's a huge misconception about intelligence and approaching women from a logical frame. I swear eventually I'll get around to making an entire post about but when you want to play yourself as who you are, and who you are is more than likely a little nerdy this is what you goddamn do.

Don't talk mechanics. Talk messages. Did Carl Sagan break out punnett squares in Episode Two of Cosmos when he explained evolution? Does Brian Cox break down the math on a logical level? When you talk about your favorite novel, do you refer to it in the logical tones of the plot, or do you linger on its climax?

Exactly. There's what things do, and then there's what they do to you. Passion is infectious especially in a "post ironic" world where you try very hard to not care about anything. It singles you out and makes you interesting.

Fuck it. Computer guys are just Car guys but it's cool to be into cars but not into Computers. They both relish competition and wit. They both love knowing how things work. They are both meritocratic cultures that appreciate more what you can do than who your daddy was. The Computer Geeks are just missing the muscles car work would give and the confidence their hobby would confer. Paul Graham is right, hackers are painters and painters are known for being attractive last time I heard.

I'm in Computer Science too and Computer Science is sexy, goddamit. It's all about the idea that if you break things down into steps inanimate matter achieves a crude form of intelligence that allows us to do amazing things. Intelligence is in fact what it's all about. Finding information, using information and discovering new things to make the world better. Information is intimacy in a topic. It's depth. Dark and mysterious forces become as familiar as a childhood friend after nights in a musky library reading what the brightest minds have to say about information. Mastery of information allows us to banish distance and power over what people are allowed to know. Before the advent of technologies improving information the best way to communicate in real time was a fire signal, followed by a bugle call, then a shout, then a conversation, then a whisper. With a cellphone, you can whisper around the world the deepest, sappiest or dirtiest things you want. Computer Science and Information Technology flatten the world in ways that nobody really appreciates unless they imagine the world before it.

All this timed I just waxed poetically lame about what I find interesting and if I was talking with a girl or hell, anyone cool I'd encourage them to do the same. You don't explain fusion, you talk about star stuff not because you need to impress someone but because there's some cool shit going on and she's got a right to know.

Playing the intellectual frame is awesome with the right calibration. Some girls aren't in the mood to be engaged intellectually in the bar and, especially, in the club. That being said, I've had girls call me out on it ('I kinda just wanna dance, not talk about stuff'), and the worst thing that you can do is try to appease her. I've blown a lot of sets by doing this, but those are lessons learned.

When you do find girls that are receptive, this style of game works great, especially with fast physical escalation (intellectual and dominant is a very rare combination), but it can come off as try-hard and arrogant without the proper calibration. I find the 'I'm so excited and passionate about this stuff that I have to share it with you' frame works well. I once had a girl give me a blowjob after I explained to her how the Schwarzschild metric implies two causally disconnected regions of spacetime that only meet inside the Schwarzschild radius. Sometimes you've gotta give brain to get brain.

I'm a Computer Science major as well, and I share the same sentiments as OP. I have a good personality and generally don't have any issues approaching and talking to girls. The problem is, after a while, it gets a little difficult talking to girls who aren't intellectually curious. I can engage in pointless small talk for so long before I get bored.

I have met a few girls who were interested in learning about tech/programming stuff, and I was more than happy to explain it to them. The thing is, those types of girls come from science backgrounds. Biological Sciences, engineering, whatever. I have a great time talking to people from those backgrounds because I can learn something new from them, and they can learn something from me. I don't usually find those types of girls in bars/clubs. I guess bars/clubs aren't the ideal environment for me to meet smart girls.

Thank you!! I've had many guy friends ask me how to get girls, I tell them to be themselves, but they blow it off! Honestly (I'm a girl if you don't pick up on that) a confident guy is so attractive. And even more so if he is confident in the not so mainstream things. I mean why is "the big bang theory" so popular? Cuz they are who they are. If Sheldon wasn't asexual, I'd probably go for him. And I might even see it as a challenge that he does t have much of a sex drive, as long as he would be ok with me trying to seduce him :p

But seriously, you are dead on! And darkenergizerbunny is right, intelligent and (sexually) dominant is appealing. If someone walks up who is confident, intelligent and sexually dominant, I'm pretty sure I'd let him have his way :P just saying :)

a lay explanation of four dimensional objects has only gotten me turned down in the past, as well as an explanation for almost everything else I know in mathematics and physics. (EE major here). I'm in perfect shape, I dress nice, and I'm also pretty talented too (learned my notes before the whole alphabet, can play guitar, piano and sing). I tend to get more girls when I am drunk rather than exposing my frame, for some reason they aren't impressed by all of that. I talk to many girls daily so that isn't the real problem, it's the fact that approach you have here doesn't work, and these girls still tend to want a douchey untalented bro in a simple major who just parties during college. Care to explain?
