TL,DR: I have severe one-itis. I've tried so many things (including many of which in the sidebar) and they aren't working and I'm not sure what else to do.

Story: I'll try to be as brief but descriptive as possible. I was a nerd in high school and only had success with women because they basically threw themselves at me and any girl that gave me attention became my girlfriend. I had a serious one in high school for 1.5 yrs, then another serious one in college for 2.5 years, and my third serious relationship started 2 years ago last week and ended this past April (so 1 yr, 4 mo). This past one has really done a number on me though.

I thought she was perfect, I thought I would never have to search again. She was gorgeous, smart and incredibly strong. We were perfect for each other and we talked about moving in together...shit, she even started using my last name for hers to see how it would sound. I had put $2500 into a savings account for her engagement ring. Then in April things just magically ended. Beginning of April it was "I love you so much" by the end of April it was "I don't think I can do this anymore."

I think I might save that story for a comment in the thread (if people care to know more), but the bottom line is that she has had a traumatic, abusive past that has marred her ability to trust and be fully open with people. I was at a point in my life where I needed to focus on my career, and she took that as abandonment...basically she was FAR more sensitive to it than most women, and so she felt as though I didn't love her / care for her anymore and she left.

It's been a devastating 8 months, and I will go on record between that and my dad's cancer as making 2011 the worst year of my life. I've gone to therapy, I've gone to the gym, I've gone out and learned new hobbies, made a ton of new friends, and done everything possible to move on with my life in a healthy, manageable way.

I used to have no confidence, now I've got a solid grasp of it. I feel like I can bring literally everything to the table: I'm an Ivy league grad with a stable, well-paying job in a burgeoning sciences field, I'm tall and my female friends consider me handsome, I do stand-up and improv so I'm humorous, I meditate, read and have sought therapy so I consider myself to be emotionally strong, grounded and have a healthy relationship with my family...

...all of this and I can't seem to find a girl that really captivates me. Ever since the breakup (which started as a break in April, but didn't seriously end until September), I've gotten probably 15 phone numbers from girls, been on dates with 6-7 of them, slept with 3 of them, and right now I'm dating 3 at the same time...by Seddit's standards I should be fine. But I'm not.

I'm still really, really upset about the breakup. I can't seem to move on fully. It's one-itis in the sense that I can't seem to get over my ex, but it's not the true definition of one-itis. I don't want her back - I want that security back. I want that feeling of knowing I'm with a girl so smart, so sexy and so awesome, that I don't question the relationship. It's this amazing sigh of relief that...aaah...no girl has shit on my girl, cause she's the best. I loved that feeling, and I loved the connection we had. She took that away from me, and she's an idiot for giving up on the best guy she'll ever date, and I'm so angry at her for not giving me a second chance and ignoring all of her problems.

I know I have everything going for me but it's not clicking. No girl seems to live up to my standards, and I see every woman as a ticking time bomb who is sweet and beautiful now, but will just drop me like a bad habit a year from now.

I really want this madness to end. I've approached women, I've slept with them, I've dated them, I've worked on my inner game and psychological health, made friends and hobbies, explored passions, found myself...and it's not enough to get me to move on completely. I'm really not sure what else to do. At this point I'm considering taking a hiatus from women and dating altogether, or taking up meditation as a daily habit more than just a casual hobby.

Am I broken? What the hell is going on?
