Look away every few seconds. Let your eyes wander around their face, check out her lips (you can make this obvious if you want, that can sometimes work to your advantage)
Every few minutes completely break eye contact and look in another direction
Keep your eyes relaxed. You're not looking at her eyes, you're looking at her face and the eyes are just a focal point
Move your head around, make eye contact from the sides or corner of your eyes every little while instead of a head-on stare. Tilt your head a bit to the side at times
Look down at your lap or hand every little while and nod, like you're thinking about what they're saying and considering it. Actually consider it too, take a moment to forget about everything else and just hear what they're saying
Hope this helps. I started with this weird stare at first as well, over time I just learned how to keep more natural eye contact. Practice will always make you better, so keep at it even if it feels odd

I came to direct you to /r/projectreddit's eye contact challenges, but you seem to have the opposite problem from everyone else. In that case I might recommend switching eyes that you are looking at from time to time

If you get good at making eye contact while listening to others, you'll notice that when speaking their eyes will actually move and are a noticeable part of their body language. For example, when I'm trying to recall a piece of information to repeat in conversation I've noticed that I'll tilt my chin up slightly and train my eyes upward. When you're driving home a crucial point you should definitely make eye contact, but let your eyes wander as you speak. When listening, however, hold eye contact 100% to show that you're interested in what they're saying and hanging on to their every word.

Are you concentrating too much on other things/gamey-aspects and spacing out? Or actively staring?

I'm usually genuinely interested in what they have to say, it's just that I feel like i'm staring, maybe scaring them or something.
