your problem is you are thinking of thinking of it as a routine. What you want to have is a conversation. And in a conversation, the idea is that both people are sharing. But honestly, you could almost stand there and drool on yourself as long as you're projecting the right vibe...

Openers are easy but im always lost after the opener. What helps you guys think of what to say after an ice breaker?

Like FrozenFirebat said, conversations aren't routines. You don't NEED to create a conversation from start to finish. It's pretty much difficult to impossible to do so.

What you do is LISTEN to the person you're talking to. Actively. And when they stop talking, then you think about a reply (a comment or a question) based on what they JUST said.

Rinse and repeat. No need for a routine. Just active listening.
