It's not ridiculously easy. As a general rule of thumb it gets easier with age though. Do you work out? You could go to fitness classes and maybe make some friends and also work on your body. Or you can workout from home using videos on YouTube! Even if you're already in ok shape it just makes you feel better. If you stop trying to make it happen and focus on self improvement and fulfillment in other areas it can naturally happen. You could also try to take a class and work on skills (e.g., coding, language, painting, cooking, whatever). Or just read. I've learned so much just reading the internet.

But I'm telling you even if romance happens for you, after a year or two it's not all it's cracked up to be. Relationships are hard work.

There are always going to be bad moments. But if it's starting to feel like a broken record maybe you could change a hobby or something so that at least it's different. If you can afford it try another area. Use online meetup sites and play the new person for a while. Seriously almost anything is better than not living at all. I say almost because if I were, e.g., trapped someplace where I knew I would drown or burn alive or in some place where I were being tortured, I probably would find an easy way to off myself but those are extreme situations

I've played the new, stupid late bloomer my whole damn life. Why should I have to do it for years in the future? That sounds like an absolutely terrible time. Getting patronized, talked down to, and being the weird new guy who never fits into the group. Been there in college several times, and that was my entire childhood. I don't think that sounds better than doing nothing. I can play the trumpet, but mine got stolen a little while ago. And I don't know that I'd ever actually find real friends who would actually enjoy my company if I decided to pick up a new instrument. I don't have the social skills to actually be a fun person in the group, act confident, act relaxed, and just have a good time. No. I overthink everything. I don't want to overthink everything anymore. I don't want to be the odd guy out anymore. I want real changes, which I have never managed to get despite decades of trying. How do you know anything will be different in the future?

I had an abusive, suicidal ex who wouldn't have sex with me. The confidence boost of someone who's willing to trust me enough to be my friend or have sex would be fucking amazing, and it would maybe make me rethink things.

I could work out. But I'm pretty sure that wouldn't fix my social skills.
