So I know that when women see you talking to other women, value increases by social proof. But what about overt displays of affection...say a girl...

I just thought of an awesome [FR] anecdote for this - I was winging for my friend and we met up with his girl he'd been seeing, and her friend. Well, her friend turned out to be sexy blonde. Stoked. We proceeded to drink and get into small talk. Anyway, at one point our two blonde girls went to the restroom together. While they are away, an older brunette at the next table leaned over and started talking to us. I built some rapport asking her about various pick up lines and if she thought they'd work. The blondes came back and we got back into it with them, basically ignoring the brunette. It was pretty awesome, brunette wished me good luck when she left. At that point, I excused myself and slyly ran after the brunette and to ask for her #. She texted me the same night asking my name. The rest of the night with the blonde was alright, #close that didn't go anywhere after my friend fucked up with his girl. BUT the brunette texted me the next day and asked if my lines had worked... she's got a good sense of humor. We've got plans. TL:DR social proof is real, and any is probably better than none. conclusion - situational.
