I'm sure we've all read the pinned posts on the sidebar regarding text game as well as the top seddit posts regarding texting.

In general, the main consensus is that you should send the girl around 2-3 texts, and within those 2-3 texts, you should set up a date (time and location included). Then, leave it be until around 24 hours of the date, where you confirm that you're both still on for the date.

The past 6 months, I've been living my life by that rule when it comes to texting girls. I figure, it's way too easy to screw up a potential relationship via text, so keep it simple, right?

Wrong.

Story time: About a month ago I went on a date with a girl I met last semester. I initiated contact a couple of days before telling her I'd like to get to know her and she should meet me at Starbucks so we can talk and hang out a bit. That's all I texted her about. Great, she agreed and we had a fun time.

Fast forward 2 weeks, I send her another text after Spring break to hang out again. I sent this text mid-week, and we were set to hang out on Saturday night at her place. Awesome, perfect. Day of the date comes around and I text to confirm, it's still on.

I get there and we hang out, chill, talk, watch movies, etc. End the night with a few kisses.

Fast forward 1 week to today. I wake up with a text from our mutual gay friend. He tells me that I'm not texting her enough. I ask if she told him that and he said that him and her roommate (also a girl) were talking about it and it was brought up that we don't text enough.

So I'm over here thinking "What!? Not texting a girl...enough??". Yeup, it's true. Text game can be a solid and integral piece of the relationship. Believe that and don't make the mistake I did.

If I would have done it differently, I'd have texted her inbetween the days of setting up our dates and actually going on the date. No conversations taking place 3 days before the date make the arrival of the date a little bit awkward. If you hold text conversations, you can walk in with some material. You have stuff to work with and build off of.

I just sent her a text to initiate some conversation. We'll see how it goes. If I didn't blow my chances like I thought I did, then I can salvage this.

Word of caution: this doesn't mean text a girl constantly throughout the day. If things start getting slow in the conversation, let it die. Don't over-text and make it seem like your primary highlight in the day is to wake up and text her. You're busy, she's busy. You have stuff to do, don't respond immediately. Go outside, work out, read, do something. Have an excuse not to be sitting by your phone waiting for her texts. Not only will your life feel more fulfilled, but it'll make you more attractive.

tl;dr: Don't exclusively text girls to set up dates. Text girls for conversation starters but be careful not to over-text.
