Quick background info: I am 19/M currently doing a gap year and starting college or an apprenticeship this summer. Never had a gf or sex (yet) but i occasionally had some sexual interactions like making out or dancing/ grinding etc. with girls. I would consider my looks maybe slightly above average but i have a rather muscular physique.

To be honest i am not really happy with my dating life rn and have been trying to change it for a while now but it can be hard sometimes to be social and start a conversation with strangers if you dont do it frequently. However one interaction yesterday kind of woke my overthinking mind up again and i need to put it into words to get it off my chest.

Also I never really go out to parties like this with the intention to pick up girls but to have fun and enjoy the music. However in most cases when i do spot a girl i find attractive or one that gives me the eyes i havent had the courage to approach, except maybe if she is i.e. standing alone.

Well Saturday i went to a techno party at a well known club in a big city next to mine with some friends. We all had a blast, dances our asses off and just let ourself go. At around 6am the rest decided to leave but i stayed a bit longer because i felt like it. After half an hour i also got too tired and went to get my jacket and headed for the exit. A few meters after the exit i noticed a cute girl walking behind me and i thought to myself "well fuck it". I turned around and asked her if she wants a mint which she politely declined. After a small pause i asked if she is returning home alone to which she said yes and i mentioned that we could share 200 meters of walking distance till i get to my car to which she agreed. It was a nice smalltalk which she seemed to enjoy as well as i did. When i stopped walking a few steps next to my car i was happy to see that she also stopped and seemed interested in keeping the conversation going as she crossed her legs, althogh she mentioned she was heading for the train station. She lit herself a cigarette and so we kept on talking to find out we had some common interests and like opinions about sport and social media. After maybe 10 minutes she said that she will have to start walking to the train soon so i offered to drop her off there but she politely declined which i understand as i also wouldnt feel comfortable getting in a strangers car at 6:30 am. As we were saying goodbye she even initiated a hug and thanked me for the conversation. This is where i asked her to put in her contact info in my phone so i could send her a text. She responded that unfortunately she has a boyfriend and hoped that i understand. She added that she really enjoyed talking to me and maybe we will see each other again at another techno party in the city. I told her to get home safely which she reciprocated and we split ways.

What did i learn from this?

Rejections are part of the process. Even if they can suck for a while sometimes, they can also be amazing, because firstly you know that you at least tried which is always better than having to think "what if" and secondly sometimes you meet amazing people with whom you have an enjoyable conversation which both of you leave with a smile. And that feeling is just great since you can think that you made 2 lives just a tiny bit less boring and more fun. Also you have to keep in mind: Sometimes you meet the right people at the wrong time and this just is how it is.

Now i will try to learn to adapt this mindset more often.

Btw english is not my first language so sorry in advance for any grammar mistakes. Additionally this was my first post so thank you for reading if you got to the end :)
