I read another post on this subreddit on Study Abroad Dating. This topic (and the top comment) resonated deeply with me, as I dated an international student at my university, a year older than me.

She was here for four years, and is leaving back to her home country for 2 years for a job. I asked her for an LDR before she left, and she said she didn't want to, as it would be too difficult. This really crushed me, but I realize it was probably right of her to do so, 2 years of not seeing each other at all is pretty bonkers.

So I'm wondering, in a sense, aren't all relationships transient? I remember an old RSD video (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZVVoyyKIj4) which touted that everything is transient, except for yourself (a great video, btw).

At what point can you make a relationship more lasting? It's so easy these days for the pursuit of a career, taking different paths, personal circumstances, etc. to separate people who are dating. Can you only establish a constant with women who are naturally in your own flow of life?

More concretely, and in the immediate sense, I am entering my senior year of college soon. I am afraid of getting too close to women or having a girlfriend because I know that in a year, we may separate on different career paths and things may end. Am I thinking about this the wrong way? I'm feeling kind of disillusioned at the moment...
