Off-hand, I'll say that I don't go out thinking to avoid a bad time. The idea of a bad time doesn't cross my mind and I think the way you're thinking right now is full of fear and that's honestly the best way to ensure that you'll repeat the bad night.

The way to get what you want is not to "prepare for a bad night", so much as it is to look at what you were thinking going in, identify thoughts that were unrealistic and impractical, and change those thoughts. (EDIT: What you've asked for is how to prepare for the train hitting you, and that's fine too, but let's get you off the tracks.)

With that in mind, you really should provide more details.

Why did you expect it to be amazing?
Why did it take a turn for the worst?
What made you realize that you were "failing" the attraction and seduction process?
What happened when the girls you were interacting with were leaving for other men? At what point did they typically leave?
