She responded saying she'll get back to me with her schedule when she finds out (this was on a tuesday asking for a saturday date).

Whenever a girl does this, you need to take back the initiative. Never let her take the driver's seat. I would have said "ok I'll check back with you on Thursday." If you haven't heard back from her by Thursday (or Friday) I would text her back "Hey buddy, I'm sorry something came up and I can't make it on Saturday. I'll text you next week when my schedule opens up." BAM! You just rejected her and took the power back. Now she has learnt, implicitly, that you make the decisions, not her.

Also, everybody else here is right - don't ask girls for Friday or Saturday dates, especially early on.

I'm going to try and explain this in a way that makes sense, sometimes I have a hard time getting my point across.

Most women, at least those you're interested in approaching, will very likely be talking to/fucking multiple guys at once. They probably have a favorite guy out of that group, maybe one they're waiting on, etc.. She also has her group of friends/girlfriends that she wants to go out with, spend time with. So when you're asking for a Friday date, or a Saturday date for a day one or two, the PRIME nights to go out, you're asking her to put you ahead of every other guy she's talking to, all her girlfriends and other friends. Don't make her choose, ask her to go out on an off night. I've had most luck asking girls that same morning if they want to do something later in the day, but that never works for a Friday or Saturday. Either you play your cards right, and you become someone she is willing to spend those prime days with, or you two drift apart for whatever reason. Good luck.

EDIT: One more thing, by trying to setup a Saturday date on Tuesday, you're basically saying I have no plans at all this weekend and I'm waiting on you to make up your mind. It comes across as boring and a tad bit needy.

It's difficult to tell exactly what a girl is thinking, so, as a rule, I suggest don't worry about what they're thinking. Just communicate what you want, and if they don't want the same thing, move on.

Why? Because an ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure.

Basically, she has a read on you immediately. She's going to play according to whatever first impression you made. She's already put you in "possible boyfriend", "hot fuck", "never date", "friend" or "dunno, see what happens" category.

If you tell her your intentions (SOI-statement of intentions) straight off the bat, things would be much clearer. You might still be able to SOI her. What do you want from this girl? Casual sex? Relationship? Tell her what you want, and if she doesn't want the same thing, move on.

I Think You Should Have Waited Till At least Thursday Or Friday To Set Up A Saturday date. Planning on Tuesday says you're too available + attractive girls rarely plan that head and more importantly, you as an attractive guy shouldn't either.

Always go out on a physical thing like Mini-golf, or city-tour. Avoid coffee-house and movies.

When you do something like mini-golf you have something to talk about all the time. And you can do that on a off-day...

Don't SMS, call her. It is easier to talk and create some kind of connection on the fone, than on txt.
