Responding to compliments

There was a post a week or so ago about how to respond to compliments. It talked about people thinking too much about how to respond, where you don't want to come off as condescending ("Oh no, I don't like them"), arrogant ("Yeah they look so good"), dismissive, etc. <-- Randomly thought of those examples but you get the point; use the search bar to find the post if you'd like.

But the point of that article is that the easiest thing is to do is just say "Thanks" and continue on. So you could use that as a default the next time you get a compliment.

As a witty response though, you could just thank her and say you spent a long time doing them, glueing them on, or whatever it is that girls do with eyelashes.

In my experience, this is the perfect time to bridge and add some spark to the conversation by saying something funny/witty/cocky like banana_box said. Since you get compliments on them very often, think of a canned response for next time.

A compliment is obviously a good thing and I've found that reacting appropriately to a compliment is more about not fucking up than in being particularly innovative or hilarious, although that can work.

I get a decent amount of compliments from women and I would say the only response which never helps the interaction is downplaying it. It's a response that lacks confidence and implies that you aren't able to deal with good things coming to you, with success, with her.

In a sense you want to subcommunicate that a compliment is not surprising, it's obvious and somewhat overdue, without being as explicitly arrogant about it as that (unless you pepper it with humour).

In my opinion, there is no one obviously superior response above all others, but there is one type of VERY BAD response, so avoid that at all costs.
