Hello Seddit, this is my first post looking for a bit of advice. How does everyone handle when a girl stops talking to you for a few days, then messages you out of the blue?

Background: I met a girl off OKCupid (HB 6.5-7) that I kind of hit it off with immediately. I sent her a message, she responded within a few minutes, and I took the bait. We ended up shooting about 15-20 messages back and forth in the first night, and I gave her my number. (Note: I was playing very cocky, like Will Ferrell style in Anchorman, talking about how I have private jets, airstrips, how I'm "a big deal" and "people know me" and I have "many leather-bound books", as well as how she'll need to get in touch with my secretary, yadda yadda. Basically, plenty of cockiness and mystery to our conversation).

To give her the number, I segwayed our conversation in a way that made her look like the aggressor (Think: well, if you wanted my number, why didn't you just ask? When she clearly did not ask for my number). She took the bait and was totally rolling with it very enthusiastically.

Fast forward to one day later, she texts me, I wait around eight hours, then respond. We get to texting back and forth again with very flirty messages off and on for a couple of days. Sometimes, we would have heavy periods of texting with responses every 15-30 minutes from me, with her basically mirroring my response time, more or less.

Then, I head home to where the rest of my family lives (about two hours away) to stay the weekend, and don't send her a text for four days straight, thinking this would draw her into me and force her to initiate conversation.

She did not initiate. So, when I got back, I shot her a funny text referencing something we had talked about previously. She ignored this text. Two days later, I sent her another text telling her, "When you stop falling off the face of the earth, please have your secretary get back in touch with me."

She ignored that text for a day, then responded with "Hey, how are you? Sorry I haven't responded, been kinda busy" and here I am, wondering where to go with it. I'm thinking I wait around a day, then initiate conversation, but I have no idea what angle to take. If I'm cocky towards her, I'm afraid it would make her flake further. If I'm a nice guy, she'll take that as me being beta.

Well Seddit, what's your advice? What mistakes did I make? Did I just fail a shit test? What did I do well?
