The short answer is you move. The long answer is this, though I can't tell you for sure if it works yet:

I'm 28. I live in the suburbs and for the most part it sucks. How do I know this? Because over the summer I traveled to two different major US cities. The freedom to simply be much more like who you want to be (as opposed to strapped to a chair 40 hours a week, as opposed to having to face the same crowd at the bar you regular, which together are the sad reality when you're not on vacation) is both scary and extremely addictive.

These are your training wheels. What do I like doing? When I get to the place that I can do it in this city/state that I don't know, how will I act in front of strangers I have almost no chance of seeing again? My thing is singing, I like doing that. I go to places where average schmucks like me can sing and I think to myself, these are my people, or at least some of them are. Why wouldn't I talk to them? Why wouldn't I connect with them? I'd be a shmuck not to try.

You develop this mentality when you are forced into a corner that makes you build a new tribe. If you are really disconnecting from everyone you've known, then perhaps the door is wide open to rebuilding a new social circle right where you live, or in the city near you; if that's not where you want to do it because you don't like your past then maybe it's time to go to somewhere new entirely.

working holiday somewhere in the world. New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland have great programs until you are 30. Save for 6-12 months and you can do it easy.

tuning in to also find an answer. when i lost my ex i lost everything, so currently being forced to restart with only one best friend that lives two hours away
