Hey guys! Lurker on this subreddit for a while and I wanted to share my night last night.

A little backstory: have been out of a long term relationship for months and have been doing a lot of reading on understanding women and attraction and really wanted to go out there and use what I learned.

Last night, I was with my Coworker and her husband who wanted to take me out for drinks and help me get my confidence back. We get to this one bar that has multiple rooms to hangout in, a room for dancing and an outdoor area with a bar and tacos.

After getting drinks and finding a spot to sit, I was conversating with my friends. I had to use the bathroom and so I got up. On my way to the bathroooms, there was a cute lady who looked at me, so I smiled but showed no teeth and she smiled back. My nervousness was coming out but I really wanted to fight it. Going back to my friends, I caught her looking at me 3 more times and knew she was interested.

My friends hyped me up, I grabbed my beer and I approached the cute girl who was on her phone (btw she was with 3 other people: 2 guys and 1 girl) and this is how it went down.

Me: Hi, what's your name?

Her: My name is "cute girl"

Me: nice to meet you "cute girl", (we're shaking hands) my name is Akumakenkuma (actually both of our actual names rhymed and I thought that was cute).

Me: I think you're really cute. Wanna dance?

Her: Thank you but I'm not a good dancer

Me: I'm not a good dancer either but it's ok

Her: Well my friends and I are going to another bar really soon

Me: ok let me get your number

Her: *gives number*

Me: ok I'm going to call you (I was drunk when I said this)

Her: What? You think I'd give you a fake number? *Shows me her phone ringing with my number on her screen* See? I didn't give you a fake number

Me: Well "cute girl", it was nice meeting you *shakes hand again*

Her: It was nice meeting you too

Me: Yeah I'll text you soon

Her: Ok have a good night!

Spoilers: I texted her today and she didn't respond but it's ok.

After I left, I was feeling happy I conquered my nervousness that I wanted to do more. I got inside the dance area with my friends and I saw a girl with a nice dress standing along the wall. I went up to her and asked her if she wanted to dance and we did for 4 songs.

I felt really accomplished last night guys! Without this subreddit's information and advice, I'd most likely still be hung up on my ex who dumped me.

TL;DR Manned up with some liquid courage, got my first number in months and danced with another girl.
