I've had a lot of requests for more information regarding the science behind seduction, so here is an (attempted) list of some important factors. I'll try to keep updating this as I recall more information. Suggestions and feedback is definitely welcome. [Also, I'm a total nub when it comes to formatting on here so if anyone can help me clean it up after that would be much appreciated]

Approach Anxiety

Everyone has it, but why? The answer to this seems to come from evolutionary psychology, and makes a good deal of sense. Back in the tribal days rejection could be a life or death situation. If you we're rejected it meant being potentially outcasted from your tribe (or worse), which is essentially a death sentence. Classical neurology pegs this fear response to the amygdala.

The good news with this is that everyone shares it, since it's an evolved trait. If you can overcome it you are lightyears ahead of the competition that is simply reacting to biological impulse. Since being rejected is no longer a death sentence, overcome it and use it to your advantage! In addition, since it seems to be related to the amygdala, you can see where it wears off. Alcohol inhibits the ability of the amygdala to do what it does, and as you notice, that's when people are far less afraid of rejection and act out. While most on here, myself included, see alcohol as a crutch that should be avoided, if you're really having trouble getting started a drink or two (nothing more) to inhibit the amygdala might give you the boost you need to warm up.

Oxytocin, vasopressin, dopamine, and why we're all drug addicts.

Have you guys ever watched the behaviour of a drug addict, or been addicted to something yourself? Ever noticed how people, when the fall in love, act in a very similar manner (obsessive thoughts, weight loss, irrational behaviour, tunnel vision, etcetera)? This is because it's essentially the same thing going on. Pimps will get a girl addicted to drugs to enslave them, they're playing on the same reward system that we're all subject to.

The dopamine reward system is powerful stuff. It's pretty much responsible for anything that feels really good, and is probably bad for you (sex, drugs, and rock and roll). When something pleasurable happens (a dopamine release), the brain, being the clever organ that it is, links up the pleasure with whatever behaviour is going on and quickly begins formulating strategies to accumulate more of this pleasure. When you make a girl cum all of that pleasure is immediately (ordinarily, sometimes the brain makes mistakes), is attributed to you, and she will seek you out like her new favourite drug. Now here is the kicker:

Maximizing the dopamine response. Labrats were given (I really need to find this study, help?) an injection of cocaine for pushing a lever. Once the behaviour was conditioned the labrats would simply push the lever everytime the dopamine wore off. They would do this in preference to food or sex. Powerful stuff. Interestingly the scientists wanted to find out what would maximize the response. Long story short, the "maybe" response produced the most aggressive response. When the rats were given a rush when the sometimes pressed the lever, they would sit endlessly pushing it, up to hundreds of times per minute. How can this help us?

Be a challenge. Maybe generates the most investment. If a girl is uncertain, but still thinks a reward is possible, this will trigger the most aggressive chasing behaviour. If she knows for certain that she can get what she wants, she loses interest and will get lazy and take pleasure at her leisure. If she doesn't think it is possible at all, or too much of a challenge, she will cost-benefit that it is not worth it.

Oxytocin

Oxytocin is the bonding agent. It's responsible for trust and the warm feeling of connection that you feel with someone. It is exceptionally powerful in women and was first noticed to be associated with causing milk production in breastfeeding. Oxytocin is what creates the bond between mother and child. That is some powerful love. Use this to your advantage! Oxytocin is produced most intensely during orgasm and breastfeeding. It is also produced during good conversations, cuddling, touching, anything that common-sense increases trust with a person. If you really want to form a relationship with a girl, make sure you're pumping her brain full of oxytocin (and dopamine :D), and you can't really fail. Stimulating the nipples is a powerful trigger for oxytocin as well, so go to town on playing with her breasts (no problem here, right guys?) when you're together. If you DON'T want to establish a powerful connection with a girl, but would just rather bang, make sure to avoid cuddling after coitus (or before, but especially after), listening to her problems, holding hands, or any of that.

Vasopressin is somewhat the equivalent chemical for males, but less understood. It is, however, well understood that it plays a major role in forming monogamous bonds in male mammals. The most famous evidence is with the prairie vole, google it if you're interested. It is released during orgasm and is thought to be responsible for the feeling of satisfaction and lack of interest in sex after ejaculation. It also makes you want to settle down. Being consciously aware of what's going on here can help you determine your behaviour. Interesting side note: I see a lot of people debating pornography and fapping and whether or not this is helpful/hurtful in seduction. All I can say is that the vasopressin release after jerking off to porn will be attributed by your brain to porn. In other words, if you have a hard time climaxing when your with a girl, it might be because you've formed a bond with your porn habit. I'm not sure about this, but it is something to think about.

Feedback loops.

Anyone who has studied Aristotelian ethics knows a little bit about how virtuous and vicious cycles are supposed to work. The idea is that the more a behaviour is done, the more familiar and rewarding it becomes, the more familiar and rewarding it becomes, the more it is done, ad infinitum.

This is true of confidence and everything related to pickup. They've done studies with athletes and shown that the more you win, the more likely it is that you will win. In other words, the winning streak is a real phenomenon, not just in your head. So get out there and get forming some positive feedback loops. PUA's will tell you that AA gets easier to deal with the more you do it (but also can go stale if you don't do it for a while), this is a perfect example of a positive feedback loop. Also, don't get lazy after a good conquest! Apparently our pheromones change after we've had sex. Women can literally smell the win on you and they want some as well. The more sex you have, the more you should get.

The Menstrual Cycle

This is a key one and I have yet to see anything in the pickup community about it. I really don't know how something so fundamental and basic has been missed, but maybe I just haven't noticed anything.

This one is a bit tricky since many/most women are on The Pill nowadays. I'll come back to that.

Lots of good solid research has been done on mating preferences and the menstrual cycle in women. So much that I'm not sure where to begin...

In the wild females will seek out two basic types of mates: one's for the long term, and one's that can deliver the best genetics. Ovulation is a 4-8 day period (lol - okay I'm not funny) during their cycle that is when the female is the most horny. During this time she will seek out stereotypically attractive males who might not make great long term mate's. The typical buff, macho, BRO ALPHA, type of dude, or also the obviously creative artistic type (creativity being associated with good genes). If your woman is ever going to cheat, it's most likely going to be during ovulation. In the wild females will bond with a mate who they see as being a good caregiver for their children, and secretly sneak off during ovulation to get pregnant with with the one who they believe carries good genetics.

Okay, but what does this have to do with seduction?

Lots. But even more with managing LTR's.

The first thing is that I would highly recommend becoming familiar with your woman's cycle. Know when she's ovulating, and when she's ovulating give her the nastiest, roughest, man-ape sex that you can. She will love you for it. In relation to seduction, if you can somehow find out a woman's cycle you can peg the exact right time (when she is horniest) to ask (tell.) her to come over. She is literally in heat.

The Pill has somewhat fucked everything up, but can be a boon for some of us. The Pill works by levelling out the cycle via tricking the woman's body into believing it is pregnant. In other words, there are no ovulation spikes. This is bad news for the big muscly guys out there, but great news for the more effeminate looking men (like myself:) who come off (unconsciously) as good child-rearing mates.

An obvious and another important helpful piece of knowledge that comes from knowing her cycle is that it can help you to predict and deal with her (irrational! god so irrational!) changes in behaviour. The menstrual cycle is a chemical soup that would be enough to send the most experienced tripper into a tailspin. PMS is real and being able to relate her shit-testing and insane mood swings to her hormonal changes can be very helpful for your own sanity. Realize that just before she starts menstruating (bleeding) her chemical cocktail is changing dramatically and this is responsible for the epic mood changes.

Okay this seems to be a good start. I'll update as I think of more, or more information is requested, and I'll try to find links to studies to back up my claims.

Hope this helps!
