Salut,

I noticed you didn't get any responses. I'm an tan skinned American who has been in France for a few months. Since I've been here I've banged 3 girls - it's easy because all I say is that I come from (insert big and famous city here) and you have these girls/guys lapping you up.

My French is good, so speaking isn't a problem. However since my French skills are weaker than my English I find myself not talking as much, which actually helps me avoid saying dumb shit. ALSO it gives me a more mysterious vibe, let's be honest some guys talk too much and it doesn't help their case. When I talk, I'm straightforward and to the point. I can still joke in the language and girls laugh at my stuff quite often. Pop open your cellphone during dull periods and show them pictures of America, they ask you a ton of questions and are puddy in your hands.

I'll be in France for a year, it's enough time that they want to get to know me, unlike say if you were a tourist and you were leaving in 5 days.

Literally every approach just starts with me saying hi, looking them in the eyes, smiling and giving them my name. Sometimes I pop in the fact that I'm american in the first phrase, most of the time I don't. If you have an accent then don't be shy about it, own that shit.

Salut, je m'appelle ____, tu viens d'ici ?

She'll respond... if it's a city you've never been to then say something along the lines of "oh I've never been there"

Bah Je viens de États-unis (ou je suis américain)... je veux juste me faire des amis (ou rencontre des français)

BOOM, 100% you've got them. They'll want to know more about you and for some reason they also feel very inclined to help you. Just say you want more people to hang out with, or you want to do cool things in the city and ask them if they can show you around. I swear it's worked every time except once. That one time you could tell she didn't care that I was American so I just walked away, her loss :P

I number close so many girls and usually get at least a date (although you do get the no-response girls too, oh well). I'm not kidding I have so many phone numbers that I don't know what to do with all of them, nor do I remember who the fuck some of them are. My French guy friends make fun of me because whenever I get a number I just text it with my go to line "Hi, c'est ____ l'américain". It's simple and they'll remember you, but most importantly they have your number too. You then follow up by asking them to come out with you for coffee (low effort) or think of a fun event to go to together (higher amount of effort)..

One last thing to not forget, MAKE GUY FRIENDS TOO, they're essential to hanging out, improving your French and besides, guy friends are cool as fuck too not everything in life is about meeting women.

I know the feeling. I dealt with this four times (two times moving to countries with different languages and then each return home). Here's what I can tell you:

When you enter a new language, all of a sudden, you want to fit in. You want to not sound foreign. You want to know the right answer to every questions that is asked and express is perfectly.

The problem with this is that it leaves you interacting at a very surface level. You become so concerned with not sounding like an idiot that you forget to mess around. So

You MUST stop focusing on sounding right/having a good accent. There is a time and a place for this, like when you are studying or in class. But you're much better off sounding silly and connecting with people than being an automaton with a decent accent
Drill jokes. Learn a funny way to answer the basic questions "Where are you from?" "What are you doing here?""What do you do?" Use them in public to get in the mood of being funnier and looser.
While learning, lean on your English personality. What I mean by this is don't limit yourself to thinking in French. Because of your limited vocabulary, you'll have a limited range of thoughts. When starting off, translate to English in your head when speaking to people and respond (in your head) in English. Then struggle to translate what you thought in English into French. I realize this isn't the ideal way to master that language, but it allows you to move your English personality to your French personality (yes, language has a HUGE effect on your personality). Eventually when you have the basics, you can stick to thinking in French.
You're better off being misunderstood than being silent. Seriously, every conversation where you attempt a joke or to connect is a win. The ones where you remain quiet are losses

I was in a bit of a similar situation, I went to mexico last year as an exchange student. I often went to the club, and had a lot of contact with girls in school too, and there I truly realised just to approach girls. All I had to do was go up to them, tell them I was dutch, and I had their full atention, for some girls this really was enough, and I was able to pick the hottest girls from the club. They also thought my accent was cute, so just walk up to them, and be confident they'll be interested in you, you're foreign! If you don't have anything to talk about, just tell them what you love about their country, everyone loves to hear that! good luck out there!

This could actually a great opportunity for you to learn a lot about social interaction and yourself. Don't try to be the same as you are at home. You're different in this situation. Try to be different.

You described yourself als silly and fun. In france, you could be mysterious and cool. Because you're from a different country, you're already extremely attractive to a lot of girls, you don't have to prove that you're interesting anymore. Just approach, smile , tell something about your home. Ask something about their home. Good luck.
