Hey all,
A recent experience has caused me to have a couple small revelations that I wanted to share with others. Of course, many of you have probably had these same realizations before, but I will share them anyway. The journey of self improvement and becoming more honest with women and yourself is a really fascinating one.
The experience that caused me to have these thoughts was one that pertains with flaking. I had a girl who showed major interest in me, gave me her number, and even "set up" the date herself. In the end, she flaked, and only texted me after we were supposed to be hanging out. The excuse she gave me is legit and checks out, but I still don't agree with her letting me know after the date was supposed to begin. Regardless, after some reflection and thought I decided I would give this girl one more chance, and will be definitely try to contact her once more.
So, after I made this decision I was getting really hung up on a lot of things. Should I wait a week to contact her? Is that too short? Will me contacting her after SHE flaked make me look needy?
I realized that I was thinking about the situation way too much. What was I afraid of? After some introspection and thought I finally realized what I was scared of.... If I contact this girl again, regardless of how she responds, it will send one very clear signal, and that signal is that I am CLEARLY interested in her.
After this I thought to myself, why does the thought of giving this girl a clear signal of my intentions make me so uncomfortable? And, this is when I had my small revelation. I DO have some minor attraction to this girl, and that is absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of. I am human, I am attracted to her, and showing this attraction is in no way shameful. I mean, could she possibly even be offended that a guy is attracted to her?! It is such a silly thought....I should not try to hide my true feelings towards this girl, because that is not being honest with myself of her.
So, now I don't really care anymore. I'm not going to think about when the right time to text her is, what I should say, or any of that. I will get in touch whenever I feel like it, say whatever I want, and not worry too much about that consequences, because my actions will be completely HONEST. If she does not respond in a positive way, who cares.
I guess what I took away from this whole experience is that being honest with yourself is really the best thing to do and nothing to be ashamed of. If you are honest with actions when you do attract girls they will be attracted to who you really are, resulting in a more positive interaction in the end. If a girl responds poorly to your honest intentions she probably wasn't someone you wanted to get with in the first place.
