Hey all! You guys inspired me to try visiting my local nightclub alone tonight to try and build up my confidence, so I thought I’d provide a field report to see if I could get some feedback.

I’m M26, live in the suburbs in tristate area USA and a nightclub recently opened up in my town. I’d visited a couple of times with friends but wanted to try it alone for once.

I got myself a beer and kind of wandered/stood around by myself for a little while. Eventually I approached a couple of other guys who also seemed to have come by themselves, and made smalltalk with them for a little while.

Eventually, I realized that none of us were going to take initiative to talk to girls. It kind of felt like we were all taking shelter with each other, not really dancing or socializing with other people. One guy finally left and then I did shortly afterward.

So…didn’t really talk to any girls. But I still felt a boost in confidence talking to and befriending a couple of wayward solo-visitors. I felt like all of us being so introverted really held us back from talking to girls - making a mental note to avoid putting myself in that position again.

Do you generally think it’s better to befriend/join up with other guys at the club when riding solo? Or should you stay solitary?

Also, any tips on how to approach more extroverted people, particularly girls, would be highly appreciated!!! I’m often hesitant to approach girls because they tended to be in groups and I didn’t want to interrupt their conversations. Wingman might help but I really wanted to try solo.

For what it’s worth: i’m a 6’0 guy, not super fit but not noticeably overweight (only really shows in my face and belly a bit). Well groomed. Dressed in jeans, shacket + t-shirt, baseball cap, sneakers. Definitely trying to get more muscular in the new year.
